XVI Summer School 2023

What is it?

The MESIO UPC-UB Summer School is a specialized training program that increases the supply of both professional and research training in the Master's degree in Statistics and Operations Research (MESIO UPC-UB), Master's degree in Advanced Mathematics and Mathematical Engineering (MAMME), Bachelor's degree in Statistics (UB-UPC), Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (UPC), Bachelor's degree in Data Science and Engineering (UPC), and the PhD in Statistics and Operations Research of the UPC.

The courses are open to students from other bachelor’s and master’s degrees, members from other universities as well as researchers and practitioners that work in private and public institutions and that need the use of statistical or machine/deep learning methodologies in their daily work.

The Summer School courses are taught by renowned visiting professors as well as professors of the UPC and UB. You can have look at the courses and instructors of the previous editions.

The 2023 edition contains 12 activities taught from June 19th to July 7th, 2023. The courses are as "face-to face" and will be also also going to be relayed by streaming.

You are requested to use your own laptop. A few days before the course starts, students will be provided with the information required to participate in the course, including the software needs.If you don't have access to a computer for the course dates, please contact gestio.summerschool.fme@upc.edu.

Prices for  courses (the price is the same if you follow the course face-to-face or by streaming)

• FME students (MESIO, MAMME, GM, GE, GCED with current registration) : 100€/course
• UPC & UB students: 120€/course
• Part-time UPC & UB teachers ("Professors associats"): 120€/course
• Full-time UPC & UB teachers, with guaranteed place in the course: 120€/course
• Students from other public Catalan universities: 200€/course
• Member of research groups and institutes linked to the UPC or the UB:  200 €/course
• SCE - Societat Catalana d'Estadística members: 250€/course
• BioInformatics Barcelona members: 250€/course
• ENBIS - European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics members: 250€/course
• BIST - Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology - 250€/course
• External users: 350€ first enrolled course and 300€ each additional course
• Full-time UPC & UB teachers: free, subject to availability.

A copy of a current document justifying the selected collective (enrolment, job contract, registration, proof of membership etc.) should be uploaded in the registration process.

Students of the Master in Statistics and Operations Research (MESIO) that take several courses of the Summer School can validate these for the course Seminari Summer School. There are two different options:

• 2 courses approved - 3 ECTS credits
• 3 courses approved - 5 ECTS credits

Application and enrollment: You can enrol each course until 5 days before its start date.

Registration

Observation: courses with less than 5 students will be cancelled.
